Background

The Name

White alabaster is a beautiful translucent mineral. I was taken with it on a trip to Mexico one summer where items for sale were often carved from it. As I was thinking about the road I walk before the Lord, I realized I wanted that walk to have a certain purity and a certain transparency like alabaster. It was also from an alabaster box that a woman poured pure nard upon the feet of Jesus as a worship offering.

The Origin

Susan has been leading worship since she was eleven. She married Eric, who happened to have a very nice voice, and the kids all seemed to have the music going on inside. They were given opportunity to use their gifts from early ages in worship services. Brittany, Daniel and Susan all do professional work around Atlanta and Daniel played with a Virgin Records artist named Hope Partlow in 2005. He is the only one of them who has played on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and we think that’s kind of awesome. They collaborated on Alabaster Road, the album, this past year although they have often been scattered in different directions.
